Creating Links & Banners For Affiliates

What are Links & Banners for? - Any web-based affiliate program would cease to work if it weren't for custom links and banners for each affiliate to use. The links and/or banners are what your affiliates will use to promote your product. When an affiliate signs up for your Affiliate Program, they can view the links and banners in their dashboard which you have created for them to use in promoting your product(s) and/or service(s). When an end user makes a purchase after being referred to your product or service from an affiliate link or banner, then that affiliate is attributed with the sale and given a certain percentage of it. The percentage will be whatever you have defined in the Commission Level settings.

Do I have to create Links & Banners for each Affiliate? - No! With Affiliate Royale, you only need to create a small handful of generic links and/or banners. From there Affiliate Royale will automatically convert each one of those links and banners into a unique URL for each affiliate to use.

Default Affiliate Link - The default affiliate link, is a link that displays at the top of each tab in the Affiliate Dashboard. This is just a convenience factor for your affiliates to get their affiliate URL quickly.

Creating a Link or Banner:
You'll see the following form when creating a new Link/Banner. Below the image is a breakdown of what each field is for

Link Type - You can select "Text" or "Banner" from this drop-down menu. If you choose "Text" then the Upload form in the "Text/Image" column changes into a Text field instead.

Target URL - This is the URL which the end user should land on after clicking on the affiliate's link or banner. Typically this is the home page of your site or shopping cart. Or this can be a direct link to a product or service page.

Slug - The slug is only used if you have enabled the Pretty Affiliate Links option in the Settings. The Slug is what gets appended to the URL after the affiliate's username. For example a slug set to "xyz" would end up looking like this: http://mysite.com/affiliatename/xyz/. For more information about this please see the bottom of this article.

Text/Image - Depending on what you choose in the "Link Type" column, this field will update accordingly. If you choose Text, then this column will display a text box which you can fill out. The text you enter in the text box gets put as the Title attribute of the affiliate link. If you choose Banner then this column will show a file upload form which you can use to upload the image for the banner.

Default Link - If you check this option, it will set the URL for this link or banner to as the Default Affiliate URL. See Above for more information.
